Qualifying Information

 

To compete in the 35th NYS Men's Mid-Amateur Championship at Wanakah Country Club, non-exempt players must advance through sectional qualifying. Listed below is an overview of the sectional qualifying rules, conditions, and schedules.

Are available using the pairings menu option above.

 

Starting

Be sure to arrive at your assigned starting hole at least five minutes before your starting time for announcements.

 

Qualifying Spots

The number of qualifying spots assigned to each qualifying site are listed above. All players tied for the last qualifying spot will advance (no playoff required).

 

Practice Rounds

The availability and pricing of practice rounds is set at the discretion of the host club. Note that a club is not required to offer practice rounds. Please contact the club for more information.

 

Golf Carts

The use of a golf cart is included in the entry fee for this qualifier, although their use is not required. There is a limit of two carts per group. If only two players are riding, they are required to take only one cart.

 

Push Carts
Players are permitted to use push carts, whether motorized or manual, during this qualifier.

 

Caddies

Caddies are permitted during all rounds of this championship. Caddies are required to dress appropriately (proper golf attire) and act in a manner consistent with the etiquette of golf.

 

Withdrawals

If you player must withdraw, please contact the NYSGA office at 315-471-6979 or email NYSGA Intern Ryan Doyle at rdoyle@nysga.org. A refund of $50 will be issued if notice is received 48 hours prior to the start of the player's assigned qualifier.

 

Last Chance Qualifier

A player can transfer their entry to the Last Chance Qualifier (Wanakah CC) for an additional $50 fee. To switch to this qualifier, please email NYSGA Intern Ryan Doyle at rdoyle@nysga.org with the subject "NYS Mid-Am Qualifying Chance to Last Chance Qualifier" and include your name and current qualifying site in the body.

 

PLEASE NOTE that the number of qualifying spots available at this site will be lower (on a percentage basis) than those available at normal sectional qualifying sites.

 

Dress Code

Players are required to wear neatly pressed, traditionally accepted golf attire. If a contestant is found to be wearing clothing contrary to this code, or is wearing acceptable clothing in a non-traditional manner, he will be asked to make the necessary corrections or risk the penalty of disqualification.
